best day, with a story from my birdie and sir kok

I had one of the really best days of my life today. And I am NOT kidding. I am not exaggerating.

At 8 pm, I went to school. I met Johanna before I was about to enter the campus. We went upstairs. As we are climbing the final steps of the excruciating climb, I caught a sight of this guy in ponytail and then, as I got a better look, it was him I saw. Who is that him you may ask? Of course. It’s SIR NIKOLAI. Hehehe.. =)

I chatted for a few minutes with Flor and Jamie and then went inside the rooom. I answered the test passed around by Ms. Pearl. 10 minutes into the test, he entered the room. I did not noticed at first. I just noticed him when I looked behind me and saw him there (just about 12 inches away form me! Kilig!) talking to Ms. Pearl. I think he saw me look at him because of that smile he made. Hay. =)

The class then started. After the time he gave was up, he said, “Was it easy?” No body reacted. “Was it easy to fail?” I said, “Yeah, that’s more like it.” Then he laughed. Wala lang. Kinikilig lang ako. Hehehe.

The class went on until 10. The time difference from 8 30am to 10am was really great. It was Math, and I happen to like the subject so I had not much problem dealing with it. I had fun listening to all his stories and his antics and his comments. Grabe! Puro kanya na ‘to ha!!

Anyway, I just have to write this. He said:

“Nangyayari ba sa inyo na kapag kumakain kayo ng breakfast lalo kayo nagugutom?”me (weird look, and a shake of my head)

“ah. Hindi pa?? Sa akin kasi, oo. Kapag kumakain ako ng breakfast, lalo akong ginugutom sa hapon. Like ganito..”
me (thinking: ayan na!! Kwneto na naman niya!! Yehey!)

“Kasi noong Monday, hinid ako nakakain ng breakfast kasi nagaway kami ng mommy ko, so ayun. Tapos, the following day, noong Tuesday, kasi diba, wala akong tuturuan, so nagising ako ng 12pm, Then, nagpunta akong UP. Hindi na ako naglunch noon ha. Nakakain ako around 4pm na. Ang kinain ko lang noon, ung kara.. (something. I’m sorry dear readers, I forgot the name) tsaka sago. Gawa ung kara..-something sa galapong”

“Class, alam niyo ba yung galapong?”
me (what on earth is he talking about?)
“Ganito, alam niyo ba yung palitaw?”
me (shaking my head)
“Hindi mo alam kung ano ‘yong palitaw? Eh kayo? Alam niyo?”
others, “opo”
“Yung rice na ginagamit nila doon. ‘Yong ground rice. ‘yon yung palitaw”
me, “ah.. ok..”
“Eh ung bilu-bilo, alam niyo yon?”
me, “Opo”
(this time, he’s looking at me again!! Kilig!!) “ayon, gawa ‘yon sa galapong. It’s actually ground rice.”

“Tapos dinner. Ang dinner ko lang noon ay kangkong. Hindi kasi ako nagri-rice sa gabi kasi I’m on a diet.”
Me; (kaya pala ang ganda ng katawan mo. Haahah!!!)

How on earth is galapong related to inverse and joint proportion, I did not get the point. But he surely made my day with those cute patawas he was making in front. I’m sure he did have everybody’s heart. Or at least, all the girls’.


“Alam niyo ba yong Philippine National Landscape? Ganito..”
(He then drew this really crude sketch of two mountains the a sun with a smiley between them. A nipa hut and a coconut tree underneath the mountains. Infairness, cute naman po iyong drawing. Come to think of it, lahat halos ng gawa niya, maganda.)

“Ayan. At some point in our lives, we will always be drawing this thing.. kaya lang as we grow old, doon na lang nagkakaroon ng perspective. May mga shadows na.. Ganoon..”

(tingin na naman siya!!ang saya talaga!)

“Alam niyo ba, I have this classmate in highschool na lagi niya akong sinesendan ng mga.. hindi quotes eh.. siguro, self made quotes.. Tapos lagging ang ending, “Be Happy” at lagi niyang sinesend yan. As in morning, noon and night. I mean, yeah, sure, I appreciate it, pero kasi, what the.. araw-arawin daw ba! Ewan ko ha, pero ako kasi, ayoko ng mga ganyang ka-cornyhan. Naiinis ako sa ganyan. Siguro once a while ok lang. Peor ang araw arawin?? Tama pa ba ‘yon? Tapos, I have this student in Casa Real Montessori that texted me the same thing kaninang umaga, may Be Happy sa hulihan. Kasi sincbi ko na sa kanila ‘yong tungkol doon.. Grabe. Nang-aasar lang.”

What do I think about it?? Well, I have only one thing to say, I guess he really is super frank. He does not like mushy things. He want everything straight to the point. No BS. Yeah. That’s exactly how he is.

Then came recess. THE BEST!!

When I came to the canteen form the powder room, I was surprised to see that he was sitting beside the girls already! He keep on talking with them, then he handed me his picture, telling me, “ganyan ako noong first year college ako” I must say, nagulat ako. He’s chubby then. But look at him now. Shocks!!

He made this kuwento about his mom.

“Teka, (took some skyflakes from his bag) ayan.. Pinagbaon ako ng mommy ko. (He got one) Kuha kayo”
(Lorraine got one, I got one too, Tita Dianna got one too.)”

See?? He must really be close with his mom. They are sweet! J Tapos, consider this pa..

“My mom kasi is diabetic, eh diba ang diabetic, limited ang food, limited ang rice. So, everyday.. hindi naman, siguro every other day, nilulutuan ko siya ng gulay.”

See??? He and his mom must be really close. And to think, that a guy knows how to cook!! That’s the best!!

After recess…

He gave us the forms and his poster. He said, “Since I like your batch so much, well, I brought something for you guys. It’s just some posters and few application forms. Well, it’s really nothing but I hope you appreciate it.”

Me (of course sir!! Anything you bring is well appreciated. Hehehe)

I was one of the lucky people who got one of the three forms. What makes rhe form so darn special you may ask?? The fact that it came all the way from UP to his house in Caloocan and then to Divine Light Academy. Pinagingatan niyang huwag malukot ‘yon. It was even tied by a rubber band. Oh?? Diba?? Special talaga!

The poster was only two and Tita Nau got the other one. Ok lang. That picture is all over the internet. I could easy find one. J We even made him sign that poster. It said, “To the DLA students, study hard. See You in UP. Sir Nikolai.”

He reacted “You know what guys, I really want to quit this shit. I’ve been through life like a real superstar way back to the show and I just want my old life back. Sobrang hassle kasi eh. ” Yeah. I did understand. Pressure coming form all aspects of your life is not easy, especially him who is handling a showbiz career.

Right now, I am feeling some things from the Dla Las Piñas that I am hating. He ws telling us this.

“I have a student in DLA Las Piñas who looks like Cameron Diaz. So ang tawag ko sa kanya, Ms. Cameron. And then, early this morning, I received this text message from my student in DLA Las Piñas saying, “Sir, nasa DLA Molino na naman kayo. Eh papano na po si Ms. Cameron?” You know what I eman? Ano naman ang koneksyon ko kay Ms. Cameron dibah?”

Another highlight of the day.

“(he was solving in the board.solving..solving..solving..) Teka. Mali eh… (Thinking for quite a while”

me “Sir, Dapat tanggalin na po yong 48 doon sa may 7.60. Kasi ‘yon na po ‘yung total eh”

“Ah.. Oo nga noh! (tingin uli siya) Tama! Thank you! (Tingin sa mata!! Eye contact!)”

“Ok lang po ‘yon sir”

Johanna, “Uy.. Ganda points.”

I really like being around Sir Nikolai. It’s like being around one of your oldest friends in highschool. He brings such air of comfort and friendship which everyone really likes.

And then after classes, we all went to McDo. There, we only talked about him and him and him. Even as Jat’s mom and Alyanna’s mom were there talking to us, it is he who we were telling stories of.

We went to Lorraine’s. We just sat there talking for few hours. I really enjoyed their companion. The girls are so much fun. It is also really great that Flor had joined us. Since this year, I always liked Flor. Enjoy siya eh.

Before I forgot.

But my day was the best because of what I have heard from Jamie.
There is this person who Jamie told me bought the magazine I was looking for. I know who he is but I just do not want to mention the name here, baka kasi ayaw mo na malagay dito or ayaw mo ng public recognition. I am not sure eh.

Hey. If you are reading this, I just want to tell you that I really appreciated you doing that. Thanks ha! When I told Jamie I was looking for that magazine, I thought she would be the one to buy me one. Anyway, thank you so much. I was so surprised with what you did. I didn’t expect you would be doing that for me. Thanks. You’re really the best. You just don’t know how you had made my day with that. It was really thoughtful of you.

Hey.. Can you also give me the mag, with a dedication somewhere in it? I just want something in that magazine that reminds me of you everytime I read it. Please?? Sige na. Do it for me.
